Ok, this post is really actually quite disgusting, and you don't have to read it. You've been warned. Ok, so one day I walk in our lovely apartment, and this is what I see....

I told Andrew to come quick, and we both sat bewildered for quite some time. What on EARTH could that be growing out of our wall? Neither one of us had ever seen or heard anything like that. It was a little disturbing. We pondered awhile until finally we decided to ask old google. Our discoveries were not happy. Yep, it's MOLD! Yucky! I had no idea mold grew into little mushrooms. But that's not even the disturbing part. The more pressing question was....HOW? After more pondering, this is what we found....the source was..
THE LEAKY WASHER!
Nasty! You now have permission to throw up a little. I promise we are not disgusting people. When we moved in, we saw that a washer & drier were already provided. Well we found out the washer leaked when we used it. We told our landlord, but of course he didn't do anything about it. And we kind of forgot about it....then this happened.
We can't wait to see what else might be in store for us in the awesome apartments we rent. In our last apartment in logan, the washer flooded half of the house AND we had a horrible infestation of hobo spiders. In this apartment , I've seen more cockroaches than I've ever really wanted to. It's a problem. And now THIS. I'm not even gonna mention all the other little problems in this place. OOOH! That's what we get for renting a cheap-o apartment here in the miniature Tijuana. We just have to suffer 7 more months here until the lease is up. I'm counting.

Nasty!! I am sorry you have to deal with that. You might be able to get out of your contract if you really read through it. We did this is an apartment before- In our contract it said that things would be fixed in a timely manner, well they never fixed anything, so we took pictures and wrote them a letter saying that we were leaving due to them not fufilling their part of our contract. Its worth a look into just to see. Especially mold, cause it can be dangerous to live in a place where there is mold. Good luck- I hate apartments for that reason, landlords never care!
Holy moly! I'm so sorry guys! We, too got out of our lease because of that cockroach incident! Leases usually say something about how the landlord must provide a "safe, clean living environment" or the contract is void. Look into it, because I have also heard that mold can cause lots of nasty diseases! Good luck with all that!
Aren't so excited for the day we can stop renting and have our own houses? One day...
(We're coming back to Utah the end of April. We'll have to hook up then.)
