help.

jaxon has had this on his legs for probably a year now.
it hasn't been this bad of course, but theres been little red patches there for awhile now.
it hasn't been seeming to bug him at all.

but it bugs me.

what IS this??

we're thinking it could be eczema...
we went to wal-mart and asked them what would help eczema and they gave us eucerin.
it's not helping at all.

these two pics are of jax

and here's a pic i got when i googled "eczema"
its in the same place and looks the same..

jax isn't on medicaid anymore and we really can't afford the doc.
doctors are stupid and a waste of money anyway.
they rarely have any answers and charge us about a months worth of income.

anybody know any remedies for this WITHOUT having to involve the doctor?

thanks!

That's what it looks like to me. My sister had it really bad growing up, but she was also allergic to everything (soap, laundry detergent, you name it). Keep it moist and protected, but don't overdress him because sweating will only make it worse. Try some hydrocortisone (that may be in your eucerin, I'm not sure). Eczema and allergies usually go hand in hand, so it may be that its triggered by something he's allergic to. Try some benadryl or some kind of antihistamine for allergies and see if that helps...if it does you may want to get him tested to see just what it is that's triggering it (cheaper in the long run than drugging him with allergy meds everyday). Good luck!

Benadryl cream might help too. I agree about the doctors being useless!!! Mom

gunner has it too really bad. baby aveno i see helps him alot, but i wash his clothes in dreft, and use baby oil to wash him like 2 a week, then baby soap anyother day. but there is a doctors free clinic on riverside drive. it sucks to go there a wait but you see a doctor and they will help you out and give you prescriptions you need. with out paying they take donations though.

yep that looks like it! My kids all have it. Peyton gets it the worst on his arms where they bend. We have used cortizone 10 cream and its ok, but the best thing I've found so far is called Renew Lotion. Its great! You can get it on ebay I think, but I could bring you some if you want to try it, I have got a whole pump :)
poor jax!! I know how annoying it is! I had it when I was little too :( eucerin is HORRIBLE for it. It's so greasy and almost makes it worse (thats what we used when I was little)

You already got a lot of good advice. If none of those work, you could also try Aquaphor, cold packs, keep him from scraching if you notice he is, keep it clean and dry (which is hard behind the knees!). That sucks! Poor boy.

Brax gets it all over his body cause he has such sensitive skin. Its always worse in the winter. I only bath him every 2 days but if he gets filthy and I have to bathe him 2 days in a row I dont use any soap. It dries out the skin and makes things worse. I lather him in Ucerin lotion and it usually takes a few weeks to notice a difference from it. There are different kinds of eczema which have to be treated differently. So that kinda stinks not knowing what kind he has. I changed my laundry detergent to a liquid less concentrated soap which has helped as well. Neosporen helps on his face where it gets the worse. I guess it is kinda a trial and error thing til you figure out what works for your little guy. Oh and make sure he doesnt scratch or touch it since it could get infected. The neosporen will help with the bacteria as well if he does touch it. Good luck!

Hi! You don't really know me :) I'm Kim Nortons sister. I think you're little boy is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen! I first saw your family on Kim's website when she took your pictures. If he can take fish oil have him start taking them...I'm not sure how young they can be and take it but my brother had excema SO bad all over his body and he took fish oil and it totally helped! Plus there is a cream called Rex-eme and it is a miracle worker! Both you can find at wal-mart I think for really cheap!

wrap it with gauze. it will dry it and allow it to heal. try to keep him from scratching it and if he needs to scratch, put a bag of frozen peas on it. that will help the itch go away.

Don't use scented soaps or lotions. We used a cream called Rezinol Salve when Steven's flared up really bad. That helped get it to go away, then I have to use Aveeno lotion (the kind that says it has oatmeal in it) and that keeps it down. Also, just washing with a mild baby wash (non scented) helps a lot.

Wow! My little girl has that pretty bad too, but not that bad. Poor guy! I know people have already given a lot of advice, but I'll add mine anyway. My doctor told me to use hydrocortizone cream and then put vaseline or something greasy over it. He said to only used the hydrocortizone cream while it is red and inflamed, then onces it is just like dry skin to just use the greasy stuff.

Ha. Maybe I should read more carefully. I thought those were his legs.

What a pain! Lots of good advice. The only thing that "cured" lizzie of it was moving back to Utah...I think what was making hers so bad was the water in Tucson. When we stayed with Tyler's sister who has a water softener, her eczema cleared up, so maybe try using something in the bath to soften the water...would bath salts (non-scented) do that? Anyway, good luck!

I put some of that NewSkin fake skin scab stuff over mine. It stinks, but it cured it pretty quick. Kenda says her kids had it and she got some sort of ointment from Colorado City that cleared it up in three days.

Relax. Be nice. Whatever.
