Learning & Loving it

I have been crazy, crazy , mega crazy into learning as much about photography as possible. I don't have money or free, baby-less time to go take a class about it. BUT I have been surfing around on-line, & my findings have been very very helpful.

I discovered Jessica Kettle , who not only is the BEST I've ever seen, but she is so Extremely kind as to SHARE her secrets. You can ask her anything about her photography, and she will answer you! She even wrote me an e-mail explaining things to me! I was so surprised & filled with glee! I love love LOVE her style. LOVE IT!

From her site, there is a link to another site: Pioneer Woman Photography
She practically post little photography lessons, and breaks it down into words that actually make sense! yes!! Just what I need!
I learned about Aperture, Shutter speed & ISO. She also tells you what the buttons mean on your camera! yes!!
Jessica Kettle told me one of her biggest secrets is , "shooting in manual". Which , yes, I have tried, and wondered why the heck my camera would even have a mode like this when the picture looks like this:
After reading and learning a little bit about the inner workings of my camera, I learned that this photo can be fixed by fiddling with a little button called "ISO"
And this is what happens when you jack up that "ISO":
too much light.
I know I am startin to kinda sorta figure things out when my photo turns out like this:
At least its not black. The color looks about right. Colors could be brighter, deeper. But the baby couldn't be any cuter.
The reason he is blurry is because my shutter was set too slow. But when I speed it up, not enough light is let in, and it's dark. I feel better at least knowing why things turn out the way they do in a picture.
So I have learned this: "Shooting in manual mode" basically means that you have to learn how to balance the ISO, Aperture & Shutter speed. (I think)
I haven't quite gotten there, but I'm close. And I'm proud, and I had to share. Sorry, to all you non-photography fans out there who may be reading this. This was a sad & utter waste of your time.
oh & HEY! If you DO happen to know about these things, ya know, like "shooting in Manual mode" and all that jazz, lemme know. I wanna learn learn learn.

Thank you for the tips. I love taking pictures and I want to learn new ways to do it. If you have any other tips you would like to share, please do. You are so good at taking pictures and you have a cute little subject to test out on. :)

I love her too! I didn't know that she had that other blog though where she teaches you things. I feel like I learned everything in school but then I've forgotten a lot of little things, so it would be great to read. Thanks! I think you are improving so fast and the best thing that you can do is open yourself up to learn. You are great!

sweet! I've been wanting to take a photography class too. I'll totally check out that website and start learning! I took a photography class in high school but the teacher was rude and I was so confused!

IT is always nice to get pointers on how to take good pictures. A big portion of my interest comes from having some crazy kids that I want to capture every minute. Good for you getting out there and LEARNING HOW! You already are awesome though.

Relax. Be nice. Whatever.
