Runia Family Photoshoot

Yesterday I was asked to do a little project! My sister in-law and her family (Monica and Tyler) needed some family pictures! And they asked me!! I was extremely flattered but also nervous. Yikes. I've never done real live family pictures before! Ahhh! Monica & Tyler have some friends that wanted family pics too! So, they came along also. And I was even extra scared.
We went to the Jacob Hamblin home in Santa Clara(we had our family pictures there last month). All would have maybe almost been well if we wouldn't have come in the morning. I had no idea til we got there that the sun was totally opposite than when we went there in the evening last time. So everything that was shaded for us, was very very bright for them. It's a really cool place but the lighting was so terrible! I had a really hard time deciphering between "good" light and "bad" light. But unless we were in the shade, it turned out to be very bad light, which made it AWFUL for picture taking. It was very frusturating for me that we couldn't take the awesome pictures I had planned because of the stupid sun being in the wrong place! UGH! But the families were very patient with me as we walked all over the place trying to get pictures in all sorts of light. I don't know why they say 8-10 am is the best time to shoot because it was mainly awful. Another thing I didn't account for was the frozen morning dew coating the grass. That eliminated laying on the belly pictures and sitting pictures! Well, I learned a few things, and that's good because I really need to!
A) Stick to evening pictures from now on! (I don't like that morning light)
B) Maybe go scope out the place at the exact time you plan on doing it before you do it to check out the sun and what shadows it will create.
C) Have poses (I did this!) and back-up poses in mind (but not this) so you'll know what to do when you get there!
D) Bring a treat for the kids (I did this!) & be prepared with other things to say or have them say to make them smile, instead of "cheese!"
Well, I worry too much. It went okay, really. Andrew said some of the pictures turned out really good ! I hope the families think so. I'm way glad I got to do this, aside from the lighting issues, it was really fun! Thanks, Runia's for giving me this opportunity! I would love to do it more often. Here are some of the pictures....

I think your pics turned are very good. So the best time for pics here is good old st.George is 4-6. but with the time change and the wether change its 3-5pm. unless you are out at the lake and stuff its good to go at sunrise. Then it reflects off the water and is so pretty. But its better durring the summer. But the pics turned out good. Great Job!

Hey Alecia! Making blog backgrounds is really easy. I learned how by going to www.thecutestblogontheblock.com and then click on "BLOG SECRET'S" then "MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND" It's super easy and I love it! Let me know if you need any pointers, its what I do in my spare time :)

I use microsoft digital image standard which is a very basic photoshop type program. It took me a while to get the hang of it though. First off, make sure you are saving the finished background as a jpeg and not a png (that was my first problem) then make sure the resolution is set to 100, my default is set to 300 so I have to change it everytime I make one. Try that and see if it helps, if not I can help you troubleshoot a little better. You can email me at mel414@hotmail.com Also, I was going to ask if you could put the original pictures as well as the edited ones on the cd. I'd appreciate it :) Thanks! give me a holler if you need more help on the backgrounds :)
