Rainy Day Love

today is #5 of the rainy day series we're receiving here in the lovely Southern Utah.

Normally, I love the rain.

But It has not been the best of weeks and this is why:

*I've experienced the WORST sunburn of my lifetime. (Due to my own stupid choices of crawling into a tanning bed after absolutely no contact with the sun for months.) I have NEVER burned this bad in my life. But, then again I guess I've never been this WHITE in my life, either. I've always tanned. This summer I did not get much of a tan, making my winter white it's whitest. So, the suffering there has not been pretty. I had to spend about 2 1/2 days glued to the couch. I couldn't move. Going to the bathroom was tricky. Caring for Jaxon was basically impossible.

*The reason I made it through that , was bad and good in a way. We've all been sick. You see, I'd had this fab idea last week to take our child to Mcdonalds playland or whatever that's called. Jax loved it last time, we were having a boring day and I felt bad for him, so I thought it would be fun for him. It was, kind of. But on the ride home, he vomited everywhere. That's not normal for him. Not long after, he got a bad case of the runs. Not long after that, Andrew was experiencing the same thing. Then I got it. But not for long. Andrew got the worst of it. His lasted about 4 days. It was awful. We were quite the team this week. Me , sitting on the couch unable to move, and him running to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

*The constant rain has not helped one single bit. It's dreary and cold and crappy, making our moods somewhat similiar. Jaxon had to stay cooped up with us all day, in our messy house that I couldn't stand , but could do NOTHING about. I'm pretty sure one of the days, Jax watched Snow White at least 7 times. Days of sitting on a couch does something to you. I got a small taste of what it would be like to be an invalid, or on bed-rest. I couldn't do it. You feel like you are losing your mind. Seriously.

*I'm on a diet. A 4 day diet. I'm supposed to lose 18 lbs in 4 days. Do you know what's worse than being sick, having a sunburn & having days on end of rain? Adding 'Not being able to eat good food' to that list. I had to sit on this stupid couch all day, watching the gloomy day pass WITHOUT being able to eat! That is so hard! I dare you to try it! No sweets, no carbs, nothing good! If I did get hungry, all I could do was chug a bottle of water and hope that filled up my growling stomach! AHHHH!

I'm glad to report, it's over. It's all over. We survived. My burn is mostly gone. I can walk again. I can clean again. I can live again. Andrew is better. He's working again. (I loved having him home, but it threw our routine off, and we saw a little too much of eachother, and that's never good.) The house is a little cleaner. It's not pouring outside as of now, so I think we're making progress with that. I am on day 3 of my diet. I can see the end of the tunnel now, & I've lost 6lbs.

Sorry for the huge sob story, but it's the truth. And this is my blog.

So Yesterday, I had to get us of the house. I didn't care if I hurt, or if Andrew was sick or if it was the crappiest weather St. George has had all year. We were getting out. And I'm pretty sure we were all pretty grateful we chose to do so.

We went on a drive. Andrew knows I love going on drives. It was so great.

Here is what a wintery , rainy day in St. George looks like:

I'm in love.

don't these colors fill you with glee?

do you see those spots in the background? Yeah, that's RAIN falling!

Sick of pictures yet? He is too.

oh, this makes me happy! and happiness is good.

St. George in the Winter on a rainy day, just may be my new favorite.

The  colors of the dead trees and bushes and plants make me happy. And the rain really saturated and enhanced those colors (with a teeny bit of help from photoshop, hehe) No, but seriously, it was gorgeous. You would have not believed it! This was up in Red Cliffs. And so far, this is the prettiest I've ever seen it up there. Anyone want family pictures up there? I do!

Oh that sounds bad... I ama so sorry for those bad 3 days! We had the same flu over Christmas. It only lasted a day but Emrie got it, then Zak and me at the same it. GOod thing we were at his mom's house cuz we would be forced to let emrie roam the world on her own. I feel bad you had to take care of Jaxon feeling like that. Uck!

I LOVE the pictures! They are amazing... I can't wait to get my 50 mm lens. Is that what you used? I love the bokeh! It makes such a difference. I can't believe I've lived this long without one. Anyway...

Just wanted to say hi and sorry about the sickies!

Dang, what a bummer you guys had a crappy couple of days. I hate times like that! I'm glad things are better now though. Oh man, tanning bed burns are vicious! I am really in love with your photos--you are sooo talented, Alicia! Too bad we're not closer, because I would have you do our family pics in a second!

Relax. Be nice. Whatever.
