10 things worth blogging about:: Day 6
Our sweet baby Mason is growing up! I don't like it one bit! He is very different than Jax was at this age. I think he looks a lot different too, even though EVERYONE says he looks like jax!
Here are some things about Mason at 8 months:
-he is FINALLY sitting up, kinda. he'll sit up for a few minutes, then fall and get really upset about it. he'll remember his fall too, because when i have him sit up again a little later, he'll get really mad at me!
-he growls. its so cute. he mostly does it when he's hyper and excited, along with the fast moving of the hands thing he does too. He's a spazzy baby, but so was jax that way. he can't hold still. when he gets excited or tired or both, he tenses up his body and moves his wrists and hands. i'll have to record a video of it.
-he's still a mama's boy. he loves me so much. he thinks he needs me all the time. if he's in his bouncer and sees me walk by, he'll cry.
-he also loves jaxon so much. he'll sit and stare and him. they watch cartoons together every morning. Mason will be in his bouncer and jax will be right next to him. i love that they have each other.
-he sleeps through the night still! sooo nice! he still takes 2 naps usually. he's had an ear infection though, and doesn't sleep as much during the day because of it, i think.
he is in the 20% percentile for height and weight. he weighs 18 lbs. his head is in the 80% percentile.... my kids have big heads. its not a new concept.
-STILL no teeth! jax had like 4 by now! i'm totally fine with that. jax's teeth are all rotten now.
-he doesn't like to drink a bottle anymore. i don't know what to do about that. he wants FOOD, not formula. i'll mix some formula in with his morning rice cereal and apple juice (that's his favorite thing to eat), but still he's not getting enough liquid. he just doesn't want it. he'll close his lips up and there's no getting anything past that. at this age, jax was drinking 8 oz bottles every 3 hours AND eating jars of food. Mason is going to be lots smaller than jax because this was jax's crucial growing time i think.
-Mason has a certain sweetness about him. not that Jax wasn't/isn't sweet, but Mason has a different spirit about him. I can't quite put my finger on it. He's just a cute, sweet little lover. I think he's a bit more content with life than jax is or ever was. (jax is like his mom) Mason kind of just sits back and enjoys things, where as jax seemed like he was ALWAYS more motivated. he wanted to go and do and learn and grow so fast! i guess thats a first child thing? and mason is acting like the second child, maybe. its just fun to notice their differences. I know i shouldn't get into the habit of comparing them like they do, but its so hard!
-Mason is a bit darker and more petite than jax was. he has darker eyelashes and eyebrows and a teeny bit more hair than jax did. mason's eyes and nose are smaller than jax's were. he's just a wittle guy! i love it!
-Sometimes, i want to get mason out of his crib and just cuddle in bed with him. or sometimes i just want to pat his bum to sleep in my bed like we used to! lately, i have been. i figure i might as well do it now, jaxon grew up so fast (jax would never cuddle with me anyway). but if you get mason to the right tiredness, and have a little patience for him to settle down, he'll cuddle. i love cuddling with him. ohhh he smells so good. we'll just lay there and stare at each other for a long long time. he'll try to pick off my eyebrows, and i'll sniff his hair. we've both got each other right where we want each other.. its so sweet. i love that little guy. I'll probably read this later and cry. I don't know if i'll be able to have more kids, and if i do, i think its gonna be really hard because of my PCOS. so, even though its hard to slow down and enjoy these little moments, i do try.
well there's my mushy mason post. i love this man!

10 things worth blogging about:: Day 5
Do you like how my Day 4 was about how bad i suck at this 10 things worth blogging about project i started???
Okay but for real. This IS something to blog about:
Okay but for real. This IS something to blog about:
Jax has a girlfriend! These two seriously love each other. Its so cute. They see each other pretty much everyday (she lives right next door). When one of them has to wait for the other to get home, the pain is just too much to handle. This week, Jax was staying at his Grandma's at Ellie came over to play and i had to send her home because jax wasn't here. She started crying! it was so sad!
I love that jax plays with her though. A day without Ellie is like a day of torture for all of us! hahah thats so wrong and sad to say! but if ellie can't play, then he's here bugging me. and by bugging, i mean whining at me, moping around, following me everywhere (even to the bathroom). I also love that when they are together, they aren't rowdy and noisy. They keep pretty quiet and calm. They love to color pictures together, play games, watch cartoons and movies, and their favorite is to play with ellie's pink and purple ponies. I've spied on them before and they both get these high pitched voices (well ellie's is already about as high pitched as a little mouse!) and they pretend like they are the ponies. its hilarious. i guess one time , ellie's mom walked in on ellie delivering a baby pony from underneath jax's shirt. she asked them what they were doing and jax said "i'm having a baby and it hurts!" HAHAHA! i love those kids!
Another time, I walked in on them in his room. They were sitting at the foot of his bed watching Star wars. Ellie was snuggled up close to him with her hand on his opposite knee. When i came in, she hurried and took it off! haha oh my gosh huh!? Jax told me once that ellie tried to kiss him. I asked him if they did kiss, and he said "no, that's bad. only mom's and dad's do that". i was proud of him!
The other day he asked me if he's going to get to watch ellie grow up into a mom. so cute!! they just might get married at this rate.
Its so funny because Ellie is SO tiny and SO shy around everyone, but she is very forward with jax. she sits on his lap and cuddles next to him. i LOVE IT! jax doesn't really know how to deal with it. he doesn't do it back, he just acts really awkward about it. its the funniest thing to see!

10 things worth blogging about:: Day 3
Women Food and God.
this book deserves its own blog post.
this book deserves its own blog post.
my friend April lent me this book.
I'm not huge on self-help books. i usually zone out while reading them. I like novels about drama and love and mushy crap.
BUT
this book is awesome.
it's a completely different approach on weight loss. it's basically mental therapy. you can't lose weight and keep it off or be healthy til you love yourself, which is mental. this book focuses on just that. loving yourself, focusing on NOW, accepting what you've been given, and just to appreciate being alive. it teaches some great concepts. we get so caught up in the daily war against our bodies, that we forget what truly beautiful things they are. we also fail to notice life going on around us when all we care about is our size and how we'll never be good enough.
its like this book spoke straight to me.
it was relieving, and at times i felt free, like a big weight was lifted off of me.
its so hard these days to not compare ourselves to others. and since there is so much emphasis on our appearances, those of us who struggle with weight feel ugly and not as important. through pretty simple and what seem like common sense methods, this book teaches how to be happy. even though it does seem like common sense, its crazy how hard these concepts are. for so long, i've been fighting against myself, placing myself worth on how much i weigh. its hard to break free of that type of thinking, but she writes about how to do it. it's a very interesting book. she gets a little weird at times, with meditation and religion stuff, but basically it boils down to learning to love yourself again.
i know i need to read this book probably like 6 more times to fully soak in all its wisdom and advice.
She also writes other books about food and eating and bodies. I want to get my hands on those too!

10 things worth blogging about:: Day 2
Spring.
I love spring more and more every year. This year a lot for some reason. There's something about the earth coming to LIFE again after dreary months of deadness. I love me a good dead tree , don't get me wrong, but somedays I felt that if I looked at another dead tree, i'd punch someone in the face! And that's never healthy. So, when the blossoms started coming, something woke up inside of me, like i think it does everyone in the spring.
Spring doesn't last long here. Before you know it, the blazing heat settles in. And walks to the park are no longer possible. You have to spend your days at the pool or inside. I'd rather deal with a hot, hot summer than 6 months of a stinky, cold winter.
But for now, I'm going to enjoy the warm, fresh breeze, blue skies, birds chirping, sleeping with my windows open, kids on bikes, kites in the sky, and blossoms. blossoms everywhere!
