San Diego: Day Three.

Day Three we went Whale Watching!

I had wanted to do this ever since my family took their once in a lifetime trip to Hawaii & left me home because I had a baby who was 2 weeks old. They went during "whale watching season", which is Dec, Jan & Feb. (i think)

That sounded so cool to me for some reason. So, we (well I) decided we were going to go! Because, gosh dangit, you just don't know when you'll ever be back again to do such things.

We walked down "the Big Bay" until it was time for our boat to leave.

Here are some things we saw:

a man playing a trumpet, collecting tips.

old war ships=cool.

seagulls perching where they please & posing for tourists like myself.

why do i look like this? i don't know. i think i was mainly concerned about how the stranger was taking the picture.

i don't understand where these dudes came from. they looked like they had just come straight from a little battle on the sea or something. pretty cool though.

the old historic lighthouse on point loma. we went here day 4.

out to sea. wow, huh?

our boat, the tour guide & lots of old people who were on there with us.

this is what we saw for the majority of the time. we'd wait for a whales "blow" (that little puff that looks like smoke , means the whale came up to breathe) then we'd wait 3-5 minutes to see the tail , or the "fluke". andy and i laugh about the word "fluke". it's just a silly word. can't they call it something else? No, we never saw a whale "breech". (that means when they jump out of the water, showing their whole bodies.)

and about half way through our tour...andy got VERY sea sick.

it was so sad.

so i watched the whales "blow" and "fluke" all by myself, while andy fought the urge to vomit for about 2 hours.

poor andy man.

we were both happy when the tour was finally over.

after this, we went to verizon and got new phones! yay! andrew finally has a phone now. he even has texting! do you know how nice it is to text your husband? seriously, it's great! he cancelled his phone not long after we got married to save money. i know in the olden days, everyone went without cell phones, and somehow we all survived just fine. i don't know how.

THEN we went to Hooters. It was my idea. I know, shame on me. But both of us had never been and I like to experience everything at least once in life, so we did! And we chose the best night of the year to go. (well best night for the men.) It was lingerie night! all the slutty girls were dressed in basically bras and underwear. lucky you, i didn't bring my camera, so no pics of that! haha.

Day 3 was pretty good . well for me. nevermind, Hooters made up for the andy having to endure the sea-sickness.

San Diego: Day Two.

Day Two was pretty great.

-It was free grand slam day at Denny's, so of course we did that.

-Then we drove to Coronado Island. It was like 15 minutes from our condo. It was beautiful!

This is what we happened to see , oh out of our window in the middle of the city. Love this temple!

i basically fell in love with this ocean front house. oh and this kick A trolley. (no, we never got a chance to ride one.)

and it was while doing this dance, that my phone decided to leap out of my pocket. luckily, andrew found it in the water. unluckily, it didn't survive.

these lovely trees were outside of our condos. i love them. love. but i have tree fetish.

ahhh, and look at this lovely sight...

since it was supposed to be rainy for the rest of the day, we decided to go do sealings in the awesome San Diego Temple. It's one of andy's fave temples.

this is when we got out of the temple. it was raining like crazy. i asked a lady who was there if it rains here all the time and if that's the reason its so dang green and beautiful. She said, No, it hardly ever rains. We just irrigate really well.

Ok, Whatever! That was a lie. Apparently she's never been to the desert.

after this, we spent about an hour in the fun San Diego traffic. andrew has such bad road rage that any good feeling we did gain from the temple was gone after that car ride. but then we came home. and got in the hot tub, and everything was good again.

San Diego: Day One

 First of all,

thanks everyone for your nice comments on my last post. that was a rough day...thanks for being understanding and giving and giving me hope and advice. sometimes, i say too much of how i feel & can get carried away! but I am feeling tons better about the whole thing now.

AND NOW....

I am FINALLY posting about our WONDERFUL & AMAZING San Diego trip.

This is day one:

-went and picked up the car we rented from Budget. (thanks to our buddy, cole)

- dropped jax off at aunt monica's house. (we're SO thankful for her.)
-then we headed out onto the open road!

Andrew drove the whole time both ways. yep, he's amazing. i still don't have a valid license, and i'm not a city driver at all.

i love california! VERY first thing we noticed about cali is : it is SO green!

 

and here are we are checking in at our condos!

 Mission Valley, San Diego

I could NOT contain my excitement!

Are we really here? on vacation? without jax?

Then we  headed to La Jolla, which after making huge fools of ourselves, discovered it's pronounced, "la hoya"

 

this place was amazing. Again, the excitement levels were a little out of control. we don't leave the state of utah much.

wish we could have spent more time here at this glorious place. it was amazing. the water crashing over the rocks, watching the surfers & sea lions in the water, the cool , crisp breeze against our faces, the sun setting over the waves.
 We felt free.
this was exactly what we needed.

just when i thought it couldn't get any better, we see these silly things! just chillin right by the beach, by people!

i think i will frame this and put it in my bathroom.

i love tall palm trees.

ahhh, so beautiful.


 

andrew said, "I can see why people are tree huggers here". There are tons and tons of cool and amazing trees everywhere. the place is SO green and gorgeous, even in what should be the dead of winter. BUT the pollution here is out of control. yeah, guess I'd be a tree hugger too.

i love trees.

Day one was amazing.

just one regret: we never went back to la jolla. I wish we would have at some point in the trip. that might have been my favorite place.
